hitting my 1-year blog anniversary!
You may have seen my previous blog post:
do THIS to achieve blog monetisation in 2025, like ME. (from a 1-year old Blog!)
Where I pin-down EXACTLY WHAT I want to achieve from my Blog in 2025 (in short - it’s monetisation), and HOW I will achieve this by defining WHAT I NEED to actually get (which is, in short - 50,000 monthly sessions on my blog to apply to an ad agency like Mediavine).
Definitely check-out the blog post above, if you want more on this, but the premise of knowing and wanting is simply NOT ENOUGH.
We need to actually DO something about it.
And if you have come across my other blog post on my blog stats (from my Google Analytics - the most trusted source) then you would know I LITERALLY mean I am starting from 0:
REVEALING my blog’s Google Analytics📈 starting 2025 + how I will monetise!
I am currently writing this blog post on April 15, 2025, but you will most likely only see this way later in the year due to my plan to batch content ahead of maternity (blog post here!).
(I am pregnant, and have a whole series of blog posts on this - but WHOLE POINT is I am not giving up my dreams and blog business for motherhood so here’s my strategy around any unpredictable-ness new motherhood can bring, on my time and energy, for blogging).
My point with saying that, IS, 4 months into 2025 and I have set myself up for success in the following ways for my Blog business to thrive in 2025 by:
quality, long-form blog posts scheduled until end-of-August 2025 for CONSISTENCY.
batched my Pinterest Pins for the next few months, so all I need to do is schedule these every 30-days or so, for MARKETING my content
However, there is nothing else.
And, I mean, not to put my efforts and hard-work down, because honestly the above to me is HUGE and a LARGE ACCOMPLISHMENT, given how hard it’s been managing:
working 9-to-5 whilst pregnant
the changes, emotionally / mentally / physically, of an unplanned pregnancy in your mid-20s
preparing all the things in the home, with my body, before baby arrives
trying to still get enough rest
trying to still indulge in self-care and fun for preserving my girlhood and filling my cup
cherishing quality time with loved ones
So, the fact that I have the FOUNDATION of my blog covered for the next few months is a huge SUCCESS for me, given how much I have on my plate.
HOWEVER…
what needs to change
I also am constantly looking at my vision board, and constantly have that FIRE inside of me to reach my blogging goals:
TO MONETISE MY BLOG (via Mediavine ads)!
And now that I am officially on maternity leave:
I haven’t given myself any set goals or business tasks, since my main priority really is to rest, relax, and do whatever I want, whenever I want, before baby comes.
BUT, when the urge hits for me to indulge in my business element, ain’t nothing stopping me…
Even if I am heavily pregnant, and on leave.
So, 4 months into 2025, and I had TWO huge realisations:
OMG I hit my 1-year blogging anniversary a week ago (08 April 2025) and I didn’t even realise! (I was still at my 9-to-5, and pregnancy tiredness was HITTING ME HARD, so I didn’t even realise)
I need to do MORE if I want to reach my 50,000 monthly sessions goal on my Blog by the end of 2025!
And by “do MORE”, I don’t mean work harder, but I mean: BE MORE INTENTIONAL in which direction I take my Blog.
And after much research on other bloggers, and researching many things along the likes of:
how to get 50 000 sessions on my blog
what to do next to grow my blog further
how to increase views and sessions of my blog
how to increase blog traffic fast
I have come to realise that stepping into my SECOND-ever year of Blogging, my intentions and priorities are really to:
work on my MARKETING a lot more! (I mean there really is a lot more I could be doing or trying out to get my blog content and brand out there more; no matter how scary it may feel to do so!)
work on my ENGAGEMENT (actually engage with my audience, connect with people online - bloggers and readers, to have a community you need to actually get out there and engage with people to create one)
I have the platform, I have the content, I have one form of promoting my Blog (Pinterest), but there is A LOT to still do when it comes to marketing, to actually get viewers to READ and INTERACT with my blog and brand!
I have covered the work on making sure my absolute NEEDS as a blogger have been strengthened, such as:
consistency
creating long-form, quality content
having a running, secure and safe website
having a Pinterest page to promote my blog posts
Now, comes the time to actually get MORE involved and have my brand bring people more value and be recognised, outside of the blog content I create.
Such as through:
commenting on other bloggers’ content
engage with other bloggers online
discuss in online blogging forums
add value in online community groups where questions asked are related to your content pillars (the core pillars of what your brand is about!)
THIS REALLY IS ALL QUITE NEW TO ME.
And, I’d be lying if I said it didn’t frighten me a little to be writing and knowing the above, but then again I have to keep reminding myself:
“I was also scared when I started my blog”
“I was also nervous when I started all my previous online businesses”
“I was also second-guessing my every move when I changed blogging platforms AWAY from Wordpress, despite what all the online gurus advised”
“I was also hesitant opening a Pinterest account, since I had NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE, not even on a personal level!”
And now, it feels natural and effortless, and has only taken me CLOSER to becoming a full-time blogger.
So, it is part of the process to feel a bit uneasy or uncomfortable but it’s only because it is new.
FEELING UNCOMFORTABLE DOESN’T ALWAYS HAVE TO MEAN IT’S A BAD THING.
Some reminders I will to replace these feelings with, or trying to knock-in some LOGIC with is:
If I don’t try, I will never know.
The fact that I have NEW ideas to try, is actually exciting because it means I only haven’t reached those 50,000 monthly sessions BECAUSE I haven’t gone through these necessary next steps of up-levelling and marketing, in my skillset and in my Blog.
Getting out there can be uncomfortable, but EVEN MORE uncomfortable is the possibility of not doing it, and staying stuck in my 9-to-5 forever. Which level of discomfort are you willing to settle with? I know which one for me (definitely NOT the 9-to-5 one!).
No one actually CARES as much as you. You might be overthinking the whole concept of commenting online, and speaking with others online (as a fellow introverted girlie) but ALL that others will take from you is the value you have to offer, nothing else!
So, with all this being said…
IT’S TIME TO TAKE THIS BLOG TO THE NEXT LEVEL.
How?
Well, I’m glad you asked!
Things need to CHANGE; they need to move-up and FORWARD.
how to grow my blog to 50,000 sessions
I could go TWO different ways with trying to do MORE and grow my blog:
focus on what I currently have: content creation, SEO, and Pinterest marketing
branch-out and focus my efforts on MARKETING: get my brand out there more through diversified social media platforms beyond Pinterest
SOME BLOGGERS might prefer to increase their blog posts per week; for example, posting 2 or more posts per week, every week.
However, I think it would be more beneficial, and time-efficient to build brand recognition and work on PROMOTING the content I have to offer.
After these are set-up, I can come back and potentially increase my blog posting to 2x a week.
WHY?
WELL, instead of JUST waiting for people to come and see the content I have batch-created and scheduled. It makes more sense to me to use my limited time and energy to GET people to read my blog posts.
How exactly will I grow my blog by focusing on marketing?
Well THERE ARE MANY things I have not yet tried (as mentioned in my previous blog post also), but for marketing-specifically, I plan to:
Open an Instagram account and Twitter account: to DIVERSIFY my social media presence and increase my chances of reaching new audiences
Engage with online forums of first-time mums and women who are going through unplanned pregnancies (just as I have), and invest in CONNECTING with likeminded women to find my community
Submit my blog post(s) to at least 1 blog directory (like Blogarama) so that I can place my content and brand in front of a wider audience, and an already-established audience.
Will this get me to 50,000 sessions?
THERE IS NO OTHER OPTION.
For my strategy to work, and get me to my goal, I need to make sure my marketing skills are better than what they are now.
I will need to focus my time into:
LEARNING: improving my marketing skills
and
GOING VIRAL: adopting techniques that could help my content and brand get as many views as possible. The more views and followers, the more EYES on my content and readers, as well as more EYES from potential brands that I could partner with (which could be another form of income for my blog before I even earn from Mediavine ads)
This will then hopefully get my pageviews and sessions significantly higher, and hopefully ranking higher on Google too!
I think I will be able to have a firm 3 months of solid blogging after my finding my feet again after postpartum, so I think this will be my best BET as a first-time mum.
As I always preach here on the blog, and in life:
MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS take into consideration your life circumstances, see what time-availability and energy you have available to you to show-up to your blog and online business, and then prioritise so that you can project this onto your strategy accordingly.
This is exactly what I always do, and what I am doing here too.
You can follow what others say online, but they might not be in the same circumstances than you, and that’s already an unfair journey to compare with.
ADDITIONALLY…
As much as any other path, it is not a GUARANTEED way to get my blog to 50,000 sessions, but it is something I have not tackled that is a HUGE part of any business: MARKETING.
So, it feels like a smart and NECESSARY next-move for my journey as a blogger who is making her way to monetisation in 2025.
conclusions
Simply put:
I want to place my best efforts with the limited time available I have in 2025 to work SMARTER, not harder, to reach my blogging monetisation goal through getting 50,000 monthly sessions.
I will focus the rest of my time-available in 2025 towards blog MARKETING solely.
I will reach out of my comfort zone as a blogger, and believe it will only get me CLOSER to being a full-time blogger.
I hope to update you by end-of-2025 with a review of my Google stats showing you the 50,000 sessions I reached, as a result of my strategy!
