how it started
I started this Blog back in April 2024.
My first ever blog post was the following:
age comparison: in your 20s and wishing you had started earlier❔ - in her Full Effect
Since then my content pillars (or themes/ what my Blog will be about) have become more established; creating content on:
making money online Blogging
my unwanted pregnancy journey as a childfree girlie
relatable girlie things in our 20s
My consistency has not been ongoing from the very start; both because of a mix of a lot of learning and discovery within my brand AND what value I wanted to provide here on my Blog, as well as some unplanned life events that I was going through in my personal life; that made it hard for me to juggle Blogging vs general life.
By the time I publish this blog post, I would have started my Blog almost 1-year ago!!! From those 12 months, I have remained consistent for the last 6 months!! (Super proud of myself!)
In this blog post, I share some tips on how to stay consistent with blogging, from my own experience, whilst juggling your specific circumstances in life as a girlie in her 20s (mine are mostly being pregnant, working 9-to-5, and wanting to still preserve some time for joy and experiences / ENJOYING life!).
I'm going to start by letting you know what my consistency looked like, at the start, to then let you in on how it’s currently going, and my tips / lessons in balance and consistency, with blogging as a beginner.
My blogging consistency at the start of my blogging journey (the first 6 months) looked like:
Goal: to post 1x a week on my Blog
Reality: I got 1 post per week in occasional blocks of consistency in 2-to-3 week batches, and then fall off again
The first 6 months being: from April 2024 to around October 2024
The results of this consistency pattern:
I created and published 30 blog posts in this time-frame
For my above goal, I would have needed to have posted just-over 30 blog posts so EVEN though I wasn’t consistent, I was able to reach my goal due to posting extra on certain weeks (1 week, I published 4 posts!)
However, I was in full survival mode, just managing my time from week-to-week, without considering time in-advance, upcoming travels or social plans; that would interfere with this work-flow pattern I had going on
The bigger picture outcome was that I got really stressed, and felt like I didn’t have control over my content strategy, in terms of blog posting, blogging consistency and blogging time management.
I was never ahead of my blogging schedule, and when I tried, I ended up getting burnt out because I had no real strategy in-place, or no content strategy that FIT with me efficiently, and my way of doing things (WITHOUT impacting my general life fulfilment and joy).
So, that was the first 6 months, or so, of my Blogging consistency journey.
how it’s going
Since October 2024 to current-day, 21st March 2025, I can say that I somehow figured it out…
By that, I mean, I figured out the blogging strategy that best suits me and my style of preserving my creativity, whilst also staying on-top of my blogging goals, and maintaining myself accountable to keep showing-up to my amazing audience here, on the Blog!
It’s been about another 6 months since, and my blogging consistency has really improved!
Currently, my blogging content strategy looks like the following:
posting 1x a week, EVERY WEEK.
PLUS, being ahead of schedule by MONTHS (currently, I have batched and scheduled content for about 5-to-6 months ahead… like wow!)
I would say this was from a huge change of perspective, mindset, a lot of taking-in what I learned, along with self-awareness and trying to constantly optimise the way I Blog and show-up for my Blogging business, with as much quality as possible.
The main difference in the ACTIONABLE way I manage my time for Blogging content, and quality of time, is that:
I give myself a guide of how many blog posts I would like created and batched, and by when (like: write 3 blog posts in this specific week)
I DO NOT SCHEDULE specific time or days for CREATING my blog content. I show-up only when I have the capacity to flow my creativity through to my blogging content; in a way I am proud of. This includes if I am tired or hungry, I take a break first or come back to my blog content another time.
I make sure my cup is filled. This one is about being in-tune with who I am, how I am, my energy levels, my joy and honouring my needs, by putting myself first. This combines both my driven, ambitious side of achieving my Blogger dream of becoming a self-employed boss girl, entrepreneur, WITH making sure I am not sacrificing my life and joy in the process / making sure I am living a FILLED and HAPPY life the whole way through (even during my 9-to-5).
I make smarter decisions that weighs out time efficiency vs energy: before, my focus was more towards working harder, but now I work SMARTER. My definition of this, is by making every decision based on weighing out how efficient I will be with my time, based on my energy levels. FOR EXAMPLE, before, even if I was tired, uninspired and not in the flow, I would sit down and try create content anyway. It felt hard, it felt against my alignment, and against my needs. NOW: if this happens, I take a break, I do something fun for a bit, I have a bit of relaxation, whatever it may be! Then, I come back to my Blog once I am feeling more refreshed. This is smarter, since if my energy is high and electric, my efficiency is 10x the quantity of time I have!
Relying on my self-trust and self-control: related to the point just before this one! When I know I need to honour my needs, I control the urge, I feel, to have to meet my blogging goals, and I start relying on self-trust. Self-trust that I WILL meet that goal regardless, in the time I have given myself, but that in THAT moment I do not have the capability to show-up for my Blog with quality. I let go of fear of slacking, and I let go of fear of not coming back to my Blog. I trust myself, I know myself, I have self-confidence and self-control that I will get back to my Blog as soon as I have recharged, even if it is a 30-minute break.
Making smart decisions in how I time-manage blogging, comes with my personal choice of not increasing the volume of posts I publish per week. It was very tempting at-first (!) but it was not the right decision for me, since there is still ALOT for me to work-on alongside my content, to level-up and expand my Blog; like email marketing, social media platforms, website design, and brand outreach.
Once that is all set-up, and I am still ahead of my blogging schedule, THEN I will consider increasing my weekly blog posts to 2 or more, depending on my capacity at the time. It’s all about matching the quality of your decision to reflect your priorities and availability.
It’s all about being aware, feeling confident in your blogging decisions, learning and doing better.
what changed?
Well, as with everything else, Blogging and managing an online business comes with its own learning curve, time management, and adaptation to transitioning into this new online business-style, and how to fit-it into your life in a way that still keeps you happy and fulfilled, as a girlie in your 20s, and beyond!
I would say the same happened with me in my transition from inconsistent to consistent blogging for 6-months straight (and counting!), except I also had a few other things happen, that may contribute to me finding my groove with consistency in blogging:
becoming sure in the specific content I want to share :initially: it was a lot of testing, trialling, and sometimes feeling slightly forced in the content I was creating; it wouldn’t flow as naturally as it does now.
feeling more inspired because of the type of content I am sharing :sharing my thoughts, experiences, journey, lessons, in both blogging, pregnancy, and girlhood! I have endless streams of content ideas now, and am so much more excited to share with you all! The type of content feels aligned with myself, and where I want to take my Blog and online business.
feeling a bit more limited with time :knowing that I have a due-date for my pregnancy, and a whole baby on the way, makes me feel more eager and driven to make sure I am working ahead, and working smarter, so I can keep my Blog running and thriving whilst I am in the early stages of motherhood.
wanting to take the most advantage out of my maternity leave :knowing I will be off for just over 1-year has given me that extra good-kind-of pressure to really get on-top of my blogging consistency, since when I think ahead, I know Blogging is my forever business, and is something I care about a lot / don’t want to have fall-off because of maternity. I still want to achieve my dreams of blogging full-time and quitting my 9-to-5, so even though maternity leave will be very busy with a newborn, I also am striving to use it as my ticket to make an income from my Blog, and never go back to my 9-to-5.
getting real about how serious I am with Blogging: from the moment I started my Blog, I knew this was my forever-business BUT I don’t think I realised how seriously Blogging will change my life, and how REAL it will be to have my Blog help me achieve my dream of becoming my own boss, and take ownership over my time. Like, when I REALLY mentalised that this wasn’t just a dream, it is a dream that I WILL ACHIEVE and will become my real-life, it really changed my perspective to how I showed-up to my Blog; and how consistent I became. (BY THE WAY, I am not yet monetised on my Blog, and am still working 9-to-5 BUT I know I will make a full-time income from Blogging, as a fact, in 2025. Details will all be shared here, when it happens!).
I have fallen in-love with Blogging! : not that I didn’t love it in the first 6-months, because I definitely knew this was the online business that MOST aligned with me, but the start was more about discovering my path with blogging and where I wanted to take it. Now, that I have found my path in what I want to share, I am addicted to the process (the content creation, the SEO-ing, the marketing on Pinterest, the website design; even when the technical bits feel a bit confusing!). Seeing my Blog become better, my skills become more developed, and seeing it all come-together, really gives me the rush! That’s the type of “challenging” I love.
I guess the only other thing may be the self-immersion into influencers who share about the reality of content creating; whether it’s Blogging, Tiktok, Instagram, which did a lot of mindset management and development in becoming more mentally resilient if things don’t always go as you want them to.
FOR EXAMPLE, not posting 1 week doesn’t have to be a “failure”; it is just a sign that you am not quite there yet, or an opportunity for you to evaluate what/ how you need to do and be better in you Blogging business, so you can get it right (whatever “right” means to you!).
My personal favourites for inspirational content creators/entrepreneurial immersion on social media is Tam Kaur and Grace Beverly.
I would say a culmination of all these factors, from both my personal development AND my learning as a beginner Blogger, has contributed to paving my own way to consistently blogging for 6-months straight, and ongoing!
This will look different for everyone, but I felt like it would be beneficial for other girlies to see a different side to what blogging consistency comes as, and not necessarily the usual narrative of “follow this schedule of ABC, and you’ll get there!”
my personal tips!
Combining my 1-year experience of Blogging with my 6-months success of consistency on my Blog, I have gathered a few crucial tips, BESIDES the ones I have already shared with you above, from my reflections in the “what’s changed?” chapter.
identify your resistance:
To actually become consistent with blogging, or generally strengthen your consistency-muscle, you need to identify what is CAUSING you resistance in staying consistent with your Blog.
In other words: are there any barriers or obstacles that are making it harder for you to show-up consistently for your Blog?
A few common reasons for resistance with consistency, around Blogging are:
knowledge gap / not knowing what to do when you schedule time for Blogging
time management / feeling like you have have no time or no consistent block of time in your week to isolate for blogging
not being in the habit of Blogging
lacking self-belief that you can stay consistent
Depending on whether any of the above reasons resonate with you, or maybe your reason is completely different, it is KEY to identify what's making it harder for you to be consistent with Blogging, so that you can tackle it more successfully.
resolving the core issue:
After doing this introspection, it is essential for you to brainstorm some solutions specifically matching your core resistance.
It might not be the perfect or final solution to your inconsistency with Blogging, but it is a START to IMPROVING your consistency, and as long as you are getting better, that's all that matters.
Time will help with the rest.
So, don't beat yourself up if you try your solution and still do not find yourself being 100% consistent. Focus more on whether there is improvement, and focus on experimenting, since it might take some trialling to really get to the bottom of it.
FOR EXAMPLE, for me, my resistance was the self-imposed pressure to create quality content, during scheduled times; when I may not have the inspiration to create quality at those specific times. My SOLUTION: giving myself a guided goal (like “write and schedule 3 blog posts this next week”) but the complete freedom to do it whenever within that time frame (allowing myself to show-up when my energy was optimal; to content-create!).
show-up imperfectly
If you are finding it hard to get logical, and see-through to a clear resistance or solution for your inconsistency with Blogging, then regardless, what will always work-out is to show-up imperfectly.
Don’t get too hung up on your inconsistency if you can’t seem to figure out the “why” yet.
Simply, keep showing-up, even if you feel like it’s not looking like your best work, or you are not feeling like you are showing up enough for your Blog, just keep going.
Perhaps, your perfectionism might be what’s getting in your way…
You might not even notice it, but the more you show-up, the better you become! It’s inevitable.
…. If you are serious and passionate about making Blogging your full-time, just like me, then keep showing up even if inconsistently. You will see that over-time your consistency will start to improve, the more you learn, the better you get, and the smarter you work.
be honest with your time
Time management seems to be one of the most recurring reasons for bloggers to be inconsistent, even though they really want to be consistent with their content and blogging business!
For this one, I broke-down multiple actionable tips that all help you be honest with your time, besides any I have previously mentioned; seeing what factors weigh a load on your time, what time you have AVAILABLE, and being in-tune with your optimal times for energy.
List out all the factors in your life that weigh on your time: knowing what you are working with and what responsibilities you have, allows you to be self-aware of WHAT to balance blogging with
Fill out your weekly calendar with these factors: on paper, calendar on phone or mentally. Some time-blocks are fixed like a 9-to-5 but you will find some time-blocks that you can play around with and be flexible with
Be mindful of when you are most productive: this one is so you can know how to most efficiently play-around with those flexible blocks of time in your weekly schedule. (Sometimes, it might not always be about when you are productive, but if you do have the choice of time, this would be a priority)
TEST! TEST! TEST! You are now crystal-clear about what your life is looking like and what you are having to balance with your Blog. The most important step is to keep testing and experimenting with when works for you, where you work best on your Blog; maybe a certain routine before Blogging to clear your mind, and so on. Find your groove.
At the end of the day, if you take ANYTHING FROM THIS BLOG POST, I would highly recommend it be the main message I am trying to convey to you, which is TO: learn what works for you, be aware that learning this takes times and experimentation, and rest-assured that you will know when you have found your groove with blogging consistency; you will feel it.
It will feel right, it will feel good.
We all go through our era of inconsistency with Blogging, specially as a beginner; don’t feel like you’re the only one!
No one’s born knowing it all, we all have to go through our own learning curve.
Own your Womanhood. Own Your Time.
