exposing my 2024 vision board

I don’t know why exposing my vision board feels like something so intimate, but that’s something I would like to share with you all regardless, so let’s get to it and have a look at my 2024 vision board! :

As you can see, we have some figures to represent my online business income goals, but these figures were random AND I didn’t even have a proper online business set-up at this point.

I only started this Blog 4 months into 2024, and I didn’t even know I would EVER do that, since I was still exploring what I would do for online businesses when I first-created this vision board.

So there’s not much for specifics, except for the beauty, fashion, health and wellness categories!

Which is fine, this is a spectacular example of “you don’t need to have a specific vision to create a vision board”. You can simply create a vision board with what you currently are working with, even if just a vague path, and that path will become clearer and more-focused the more you go on.

For 2025, currently, I have a SET online business (this Blog! that I absolutely ADORE) with a set strategy and goal for it, so my vision board will have specific figures and platforms I have researched on there.

I might do a blog post at the end of 2025;

  • exposing my 2025 vision board, and

  • spilling the tea on what goals I achieved from my vision board, vs what goals I haven’t yet achieved from 2025 (if any!)

Comment on this blog post if you’d like to see that!

hack #1

The FIRST vision board HACK every girl needs to achieve their goals in 2025 is:

Know the difference between a mood-board vs a vision board (I didn’t know this in 2024!).

The main difference is that a mood-board is MORE a board of pretty pictures that inspires you. vs A vision board is a board of pictures (can still be pretty, of course!) that visually displays your SPECIFIC goals.

What you saw in my 2024 vision board was actually a mood-board. I wasn’t aware it was; since the whole way-through, I thought I was creating a vision board, but it was not a vision board in-fact…

YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING, well “what’s so important about that?” or “what’s so wrong about creating a mood-board instead?” like “how much of a difference can that make to your life and goals?

  • I mean it IS OKAY to create a mood-board, and to be inspired, but this might be a bit more misaligned with the specific vision you may hold for yourself in your mind.

  • Which reflects on how specifically your reality also reflects your sense of direction; if it’s crystal-clear and focused, your reality will bring to life that vision (which is what we want!).

  • Whereas, a vision board will more successfully target your subconscious to awaken the parts of your brain to take action towards the dream life you envision.

To be honest though, this hack is for the queens who already have an ESTABLISHED SPECIFIC VISION for their dream life and goals, currently.

For the queens who do not yet know where they are going, or what their dream life or self looks like, then I would say “create a mood board instead” and then let your path of self-discovery pave the way for you to be able to create a vision board; for when that specific vision DOES come to you.

That’s exactly WHAT I DID, without even realising, and it worked for me very well! Because now in 2025, I am about to create my first OFFICIAL vision board.

FOR EXAMPLE: for a vision board

  1. if you have a blog, like me, and want to monetise your blog; then one of the goals and photos you put on your VISION board, might be the specific Ad agency (popular ones are MediaVine or Ezoic) you want to be approved by, alongside the specific number of monthly views or sessions, you need, to be approved.

  2. if you’re a Youtuber, you might want to put a photo of the Youtube plaque alongside the number of subscribers and watching hours you need to become a paid Youtuber.

  3. if you want to be fitter in 2025, and you did a Pilates class in 2024 that you really enjoyed, then maybe you would put a photo representing Pilates, alongside the time you would wake-up to do Pilates in your week.

You get the gist!

SIDE NOTE: I originally got this eye-opening moment whilst listening to Grace Beverly’s podcast, featuring Roxie Nafousi, on how to vision board to manifest your 2025 goals (absolute golden advice!), and realised my 2024 “vision board” was actually a moodboard.

hack#2

The SECOND vision board HACK every girl needs to achieve their goals in 2025 is:

Leave some room for the unexpected (I dive a bit deeper into my personal experience of this in 2024, as a prime example, in the later chapter of “how often should you change your vision board?”!)

I am a PLANNER TO MY CORE.

I love having a plan, I love planning, I love having everything under-control.

SO, a vision board ticks all of those boxes for me, and makes it even funner; than for the girlies who aren’t as much in this kind-of vibe as me.

My 2024 vision board was my 2024 life plan.

But this is where I went WRONG.

  • Life is a CULMINATION of all sorts of areas, events, moments, and experiences that are both planned AND UNPLANNED.

The moment you believe you have it all figured out, is the moment you mentally set yourself up for some level of disappointment, sadness or complete confusion; with your self and with your life-course.

The ultimate hack to success with vision boards is to be intentional and specific with your goals and dream life/ self (hack#1) , but to be able to combine that with the realism of life; that is to expect the unexpected (hack#2). It may be a:

A change of plans, in general!

If you go into your vision board KNOWING that something unexpected might also happen in your year, then you won’t be AS thrown-off by it (depending), if something does happen.

I don’t mean to physically leave some blank space on your vision board for this, but to just have in-mind. Since this was something I felt contributed to the emotional impact I felt of finding out I was pregnant (unplanned). I wondered “ I didn’t PLAN for this though” but life has ways of happening without you planning for it at-times.

We would hope that the unexpected can be more positive than negative too, but it is just a good note-to-self to be aware of, when creating your vision board, so you can be most-successfully set-up for life in 2025.

SIDE NOTE: 2024-me, thinking my vision board would be my plan for the entirety of the year was a clear example of me partially-deceiving myself (unknowingly) and had me feeling completely SHOCKED, and not knowing what to do with myself, when something happened in my year that I DID NOT PLAN FOR.

This took a good minute for me to wrap my head around. Specially, since 2024 was my first-year of actually having some sort of intentional plan, which is ironic to have one of the biggest UNPLANNED things (pregnancy) happen to me that year. It was a proper lesson and mental-note to self.

If you vision board with both hack#1 PLUS hack#2, you will be on your way to achieving all your 2025 goals in NO-TIME. And this is exactly how I am approaching my 2025 vision board, and beyond.

Now, let me tackle some basic vision-board questions we all have when we get started! If these don’t relate to you, and you’re further ahead in your vision-boarding journey, skip-down through the chapters! MUAH.

+ general vision board FAQs:

when should you vision board?

I think everyone would tell you to make sure your vision board for 2025 is ready BEFORE the year starts, but…

Anyone else end-up only doing, like actually starting, their vision board past-January?

It’s quite a lengthy process, and one I wish to not rush!

My 2024 vision board / mood-board, (my first EVER one until now!) was only finalised in February of 2024, and some may call that a vision-boarding SIN.

But with Christmas and New Years, I prioritise and crave quality time with family, and some time to switch-off from goals and achievements, to just relax and simply exist.

Post-New Years has been my prime time for goal-visualising, for the year ahead of 2025, but I do confess I do want to start patting down my vision board strategy for as close to the start of the year as possible, in future years to come.

UPDATE: 2025 vision board up-and-ready in January: END of January, but still some progress!

Regardless, I think the MOST IMPORTANT thing to note here is that as long as your intention is established, even if you create your vision board after the year has started, you still have your goals in-mind anyway. The vision board is there to aid you, and remind you, as the year goes-on, to make sure you remember what the original plot for you was in 2025!

how often should you change your vision board?

I think, traditionally-speaking, most girlies tend to change their vision board at the end of each year for a fresh, rebranded vision for the year-ahead.

However, it really is entirely up-to you!

I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer to this, as long as what you are doing is ALIGNED to how strongly you feel about your vision, so that your visualisation method of using a vision board, reinforces that strengthened vision even further.

WHAT I WILL SAY THOUGH is, I do strongly urge all girlies to have check-ins with their vision boards, and goals-set for the year, THROUGHOUT the year. I like to do mine only once, and this is in the middle of the year, to kind-of gage where I am at, and whether I need to change what I am doing; so I can stay accountable on how on-track I am to succeeding at my goals.

How often you check-in with the goals you set yourself for 2025, is up-to-you, once again, of course. However, this is an important step because you might find that life throws something truly unexpected at you, and some goals may simply no longer align with the vision you currently hold for yourself.

This is all about making some room to adapt your vision board to what happens in your personal life, or within your self too. You might simply just have a change-of-heart towards some of the things you used to want.

And that’s okay, just simply make sure you schedule a time, during the year, to check-in so you can let these go, and have more mental space to tackle what actually is for you.

I want all you girlies to succeed at the unique vision of your dream life, and that is why checking-in with your vision board sets you-up for success, so that you don’t get completely caught off-guard if you deal with unexpected changes; you may have no control over.

NOT EVERYTHING IS PLANNED, and using that reality and applying it to the way we vision board is essential to ensuring we are vision-boarding in the most effective way possible.

FOR EXAMPLE:

  • In 2024, I had such a clear and specific plan laid out on my vision board (which you can see above).

  • But in September 2024, I found out I was pregnant… and this was something I didn’t want or plan for. (I speak all about it here!)

  • I decided to continue with this pregnancy, out of my personal beliefs, but it is an UNDERSTATEMENT to say that that life event completely threw me-off my vision board course.

  • Once I had picked myself up somewhat, I had to revisit what my original vision was for 2024 and see whether anything needed adapting, but also learnt the lesson to consider some room for the unexpected (hack#2), in future vision boards, so I wouldn’t feel as if I had been stripped away of my identity and dreams.

So, let it be a lesson learnt and regardless, we are here now, and NO - I did not change any of my dreams on my vision board because of an unplanned motherhood. If anything, it has set me even further in-stone in MAKING my entrepreneurial dreams come true, and establishing my own narrative even more strongly vs going along the stereotypes people so easily place on you, once they learn you will have a child.

I am taking control of my own narrative, and making sure I make my full-time income from my Blog, and make sure I never go back to my 9-to-5. That’s what we are all about here at in her Full Effect, and I’m here to take you with me, along the whole journey; in blogging, in online business and money, in pregnancy, and in girlhood!

I had to sprinkle some realism into vision boarding, so we can visualise and embody our dreams, but also not feel deceived if something goes not as we planned for.

And that is the real success in approaching vision-boarding.

how to successfully vision board?

Of course, I could rinse-and-repeat everything you hear online but the basics is to establish the categories that are unique to you in your life; your priorities or areas you want to focus on:

  • common examples are: beauty, business, health, money, hobbies, relationships

Write SPECIFIC goals for each category; figures to achieve, types of food or exercise, types of hobbies, and so on.

Find a few photos for each category, and arrange them on your board with the centre being your main focus for the year, OR the category you will work the most-on.

Use hack#1 and hack#2, from above, and you will have successfully vision-boarded.

The remainder is all about execution, and accountability; sometimes challenging, but always rewarding!

do I need to vision board?

Of course, if this isn’t your thing then you can still achieve your dreams through other ways of keeping yourself accountable and focused, and reminding yourself of what you are working towards, throughout the year.

HOWEVER, vision boarding forces you to get your creative juices flowing, immerse yourself into actually discovering what your dream life looks like, how it feels, how you will get there, and immersing yourself in the vision you so badly want to accomplish.

So, for all the girlies who are here. We already know the vibe, the answer is a big fat YES.

Regardless, we can all agree that we have a vision of what we truly desire for ourselves.

For you, that may be:

  • becoming your own boss

  • making a full-time income online every month

  • having a profitable online business

  • working from Bali if you wish; location freedom at-large

  • dressing how you want, doing things the way you want

  • owning how your time is spent

  • quitting your 9-to-5 job

  • retiring your parents

  • taking yourself traveling around the world

…the list can GO ON.

A vision board will get you a long way to accomplishing that vision for your self.

All a girlie needs is her SELF and her 2025 vision board.

Own your Womanhood. Own your Time.

I’ll be logging updates throughout this whole journey as a mother-to-be, working to be an entrepreneur, but to also still preserve the girlhood within, to try and be her best self, and live her happiest life, so keep-up with me through the blog!

I release a new blog post every Friday at 1pm! (UK-time)

Let me know if you’re in a similar headspace (pregnant or not), being in our 20s is confusing, and taking control of our story is the only way we can take ownership of our happiness and live out our dream life.

I document my unwanted pregnancy journey at 25, taking control of my narrative, figuring out being a girl in my 20s, chasing my dream life, and conquering my boss babe dream of becoming a self-employed, entrepreneur / Blogger!
